I build the tools
gamedev forgot.
Hey, I'm Max, Blade67 nearly everywhere else. I write about game and engine development, build compilers and editor tooling for Godot, and put the useful bits up here so nobody has to rebuild them.
Things I built
All projects →GATE
A GDScript superset that compiles to plain GDScript. Static types, structs, traits, generics and a real null analysis - all of it lowering to code Godot already runs.
GDD Generator
Pick a document type and a few genres, get a mostly-written game design document as Markdown, HTML or a real .docx. No AI, no server, no network call - it all happens in the tab.
RotomLab
A Pokemon Gen 3 ROM hack editor. Maps, data and scripts in one app, over a decomp toolchain that sets itself up so nobody has to install devkitARM by hand.
Takoyaki
A mobile-first manga reader where every source is a plugin running in a sandboxed web worker, so a bad plugin cannot reach the rest of the app. Tauri 2 and Svelte 5.

I have spent years on the parts of game development nobody notices until they break - build pipelines, editor tooling, the type system you wish your scripting language had. Most of what I learn ends up here, usually in more detail than anyone asked for.
Off-screen: too many half-finished prototypes, a backlog I refuse to acknowledge, and an ongoing argument with my own asset pipeline. If something here saved you an afternoon, tell me - that is the best part of putting it online.
I also make pixel art now and then, which is what you are looking at scattered around this page. Click any of it to see the piece full size.
